The lock will be a piece of rod that you have to stick through matching holes in the frame and blade. It's attached to a piece of cord so you don't lose it.
I guess I'm in the minority, but I'm glad it's not a frame lock. I'm now more excited! I hope a picture (even of the CAD drawing) comes out soon.
I'm not on that bandwagon at all. I don't even own a framelock. That's one of the reasons why I was excited for the Izula folder. Also, the liner lock is one of my favorite type of locks. If it's not going to be a frame lock I just hope it's something traditional (back lock/liner lock) not something like the compression or axis lock. Like one before said, knowing ESEE, they won't make it something complicated that has many parts that can break. It will probably be something simple and functional.I'm always confused by the frame lock bandwagonners, who get upset when it's not framelock, and then say "as long as it's not a liner lock" even though many liner lock designs are sturdier than frame locks.... am I missing something?
Don't get me wrong, I like frame locks and have the Ti Military on the way. I just don't get the lock prejudice on here that has no basis in reality...
Personally, I'd be happy with frame lock, back lock, liner lock, compression, friction folder, etc.... Knowing ESEE, I could easily see the Izula as a backlock design, it would make perfect sense and follow their design philosophy of: It aint broke, don't fix it.
The lock will be a piece of rod that you have to stick through matching holes in the frame and blade. It's attached to a piece of cord so you don't lose it. Sure it takes a long time, but it's almost as strong as a fixed blade when you finally get it in there. Oh and street price will be much lower, it'll be around $700 or so.
