If you could only have one *folder* blank size, forged to reduce grinding - what size would it be? Looking for overall width, length and angle of blade.

Appreciate any feedback. :)

That is sort of like saying ,"If you could only have one size car, what would it be?"
Different users will have different needs.

That said, a spear point blade would seem about the most useful in general use. 2.75" long, 0.60"wide, and 0.075 thick should be a good size. Bevel 3/4 up the side.

If this is a blank I would want it 3 3/4 long square point and .095~.105 thick. With a long square blank I could make any blade shape I want. Also by starting with a thicker blank I could again take it to a thinner blade or leave the tang thick and step just the blade down to a thinner piece.

Exactly - I am taking the Ford approach. Offer most basic item, in your favorite color - as long it is black. Dims will need to be large enough to make other items though.

Jeff,
I just took a look at your website and noticed you have one item in particular that you carry that I would be interested in. Are you interested in selling items in small quantities to knifemakers? If so please contact me.

Three inches seems to me a pretty standard size for folder blades, the width seems variable between 3/4" and 1".
Thanks,
Del

Well, I make small, medium and lager folders :)

3" is a pretty standard length but need another 3/4-1" for tang, 3/4" wide and .075" to .100" for thickness.

With that said, I couldn't work off one blank for my folders. Too many variables...

I appreciate all your feedback. I think we have a good start for our first forging die. If all goes well, we can look at others, just did not want to start in left field with no possible volume.
