Folder: changeable clip to blade up or blade down

I'm balls deep in bear country. Surrounded by hostile grizzlies. If one or three charge me I need my knife to be tip up in pocket for quicker deployment...

but mainly tip up because it's more comfortable to just be able to slide the knife out and open it without having to rotate it.

LOL If you're going to use a knife against a bear you need to change your user name to Daniel Boone.

My REAL reason is because the ladies like tip up!

I like tip up only to the point of not buying knives (like the spyderco military) that I otherwise would.

For me, it's a positioning problem. I like the knife oriented for opening as I pull it out, rather than having to flip it over, like tip down requires.

Tip up only guys have a lot of justifications for their choice. :D

Us tip down guys(besides not having an issue with carrying tip up too) just say it's our preference. ;)

Agreed
Most of us tip down carriers have to weather crowds of tip-uppers chanting to reassure themselves that their opinion is the only correct way.

I never had an issue with the carry orientation until I got bit in the leg by a boker that I was carrying tip down. I would try carrying tip down again, but its just become a habit to not have to flip the knife around in my hand.

Grab the end of the knife and pull it out, your thumb will be right on the thumb hole and you won't have to do any flipping.

In most discussions it seemed to me to be the opposite. Tip down guys would say that their reason was because it is faster and more secure. Most tip up guys do it because they like it and don't offer a reason. Some people say that they do it because it is safer and it may be with some knives but I think with most knives these days it is a non-issue.
