Do you guys really think the blade would be Infi? Looking back at the Rat Trap brings up a few memories of conversations about the steel not really being ideal for a small folder, I believe they went with S30V. I know that Infi is more stain resistant etc but would it fall into the same category as SR101?

I would buy one Infi or not. IMHO if there was a better choice of steel and Jerry worked his heat treat mojo, it would be a better knife in the long run.

I don't remember the conversations, but if it works for the small fixed blades that are around .160" thick, why wouldn't it work for FOLDER? True, you aren't looking for impact strength that INFI is famous for, but Jerry proved it is good for edge retention on the Blade rope cutting demo. It also is very chip resistant. I know you can get into to problems with a thin edge on any steel, but it would be for slicing, not chopping, so I would think INFI would do just fine. I'll even volunteer to test one of the FOLDERS out for awhile, since I'm a "Giver"!!! :D

If its a Busse it should be INFI. There are some awesome steels out there that are perfect for folders like: D2, S30V, 154 CM or even 1095. No matter what steel it is I'll buy one.

What steel was the Rat Trap made of?

I think it is time to remind all the new guys how great all the old Busse's are. That way while they hunt the old stuff Jerry will have plenty of free time to make the folder. :cool: :thumbup:
