Folder for work

I like the Spyderco Military. I've owned the SERE 2000 and the 710. I did not care for them. They both have back wards clips and I felt that the SERE was really big and heavy for how large the blade was.
I carry my Military often, but not as often as my Spyderco Resilience. A couple of other knives you might look at are the Benchmade Dejavoo and the ZT MUDD. The Dejavoo is kind of Benchmade's version of the Spyderco Military.

BTW, where do you work?

I have to see the 710 in person, as with the others before I can make a real informed decision. The reviews of the Spyderco GB, in the fit and finish dept in particular, really makes me like that knife. Other than that, I am not a fan of Spyderco's designs.

Blade strength, and edge retention are the most important, and the design of the blade has to facilitate cutting ropes, as well as other EDC tasks. Weight isn't a huge issue, but durability is.

Ill check out the other knives listed in these last few posts.

Dejavoo, Millie, and 710 dont do it for me. I like that ZT, seems out of stock everywhere though? And 154 is the balde steel i have now, doesnt reatin an edge the way i would like it to.

the hogue looks like a nice knife, however for cutting tasks id always recommend a slimmer blade and ill also throw in behind the gayle bradley from spyderco. ive got a dozen knives and for the last month the bradley is the only one getting pocket time. seems to me its the right blade shape and steel for the work your doing.

I'd also recommend the Gayle Bradley, great fit and finish, top notch materials, and a good price. I also have a Military and 710 off that list, and while I love both of them, the Bradley is the one that goes to work with me now

Im going to pull the trigger today. Found some great deals on Ebay for the GB.

Any new knives come out that i should be looking at since the last posts here before Xmas?

I am looking at upgrading my BM551 half serrated blade to a full straight blade folder. I cut mainly ropes at work, some plastic and of course opening boxes, etc. EDC carry type of cutting.

Actually, those tasks are ones that fully serrated blades excel at. I would personally suggest looking at buying 2 knives: one of the ones you're looking at, and then a fully serrated secondary knife, such as a Delica or Endura (or the Salt 1 or Pacific Salt). In fact, an older Delica 3 (with the old clip and no liners) or Salt 1 make a great secondary knife; they weight practically nothing, they're thin, and the large berth of the pocket clip can allow you to easily carry it IWB, which is how I carry my Tasman Salt PE.

Serrated blades, in addition to being great for sawing through rope or tearing up cardboard, have longer edge retention, so you'll be sharpening less.

Just my $0.02

Arrived yesterday. havent had a chance to use it yet for anything serious.

One question I do have is how tough are the carbon fiber handles? Do they hold up well to abuse such as dropping, hitting/striking, etc? Or are they easily chipped/broken?
