Folder heat treating question

Hello everyone. In a previous post of mine the subject of heat treating came up and I was surprised to learn that it seems the majority of makers grind folder blades after heat treat to avoid warpage due to the small size. It kind of threw me for a loop because I hadn't heard of this practice before. Even with small knives like neck knives which are of a similar size.
Anyway, I've made a few knives out of this D2 bar I have. There's enough left over to make a folder. So my question is, is folder blade warpage still an issue with air quenching steels like D2? If not can it still be ground down to the normal .010-.015? I'd like to not grind D2 at 61 RC if it's avoidable. I'll be sending them to Texas knife for heat treating as soon as I figure out what I need to do with this folder. It's Bohler D2 if that's relevant. Thanks for looking.

That thread surprised me also but I wouldn't worry too much. I've never used D2 so won't speak to it but my folder blades are typically 61 Rc and I grind pre HT. I have to straighten some blades but warpage is fixable.

How do you fix the warpage? Surface grinding?

I grind all my folder blades 1/8" and less after H/T.Heck I grind all my blades 1/8" and less after H/T. Good ceramic belts will eat Rc61 relatively easy.
I also surface grind folder blades pre and post H/T.

FWIW my blades are around .14. I shim and use a half ton press on the high side. A couple of attempts and they're straight but maybe I'm lucky. Also for what it's worth, I've been working with CPM-154, s35vn and s110v.

How is your s110v quenched? I'm asking because the data sheet said it could be salt, interrupted oil, positive pressure gas, or air quenched. I've read warpage is less of an issue with air quenching that's why I'm asking. That's why the air quench steels can be ground so thin before heat treat.
