i just recived a dpx folder... and its my first heavy duty frame lock knife.... i gave it a good hard flick open and it was almost impossible to release.. is that normal.. (the roto block wasnt engaged.)... just wandering if it was suposed to be that tight.. when i dont give it a hard flix its easy to release it...

Take a #2 pencil and mark the tang of the blade were the lock engages, it will smooth it out until it gets broken in.

Yes, initial stickiness in titanium framelocks is pretty common. Try marking the tang with a pencil like Ankerson suggested. You can also do the same thing with a Sharpie permanent marker (which I actually prefer to the pencil method).

You don't want to be flicking your knives too hard. You will end up deforming the stop pins and the lockbar interface. the end result will be unrepairable blade play (unless you replace the stop pin). No need to flick any knife open with that kind of force. Just be calm and use a controlled deliberate action. Check the pivot for proper tension too, adjust as needed.

what is the purpose of the pencil or sharpie marks??

and also the roto block sometimes gets locked slightly when i open it sometimes... can you tighten the roto block?

The pencil/marker makes it easy to disengage the lock for a short while.

Just Say No To Flicking it's not good for the knife. Just open it in a nice smooth motion there is no need to flicking open with force u will damage the lock interface and or stop pin

+1 on what RD said. Those hard openings are not doing your knife any good at all.

i dont usually flick them hard just this one time cause i couldn't get it open ( but i had no idea that flicking a folder hard would damage the stop pin thanks for the info :) ).. played with the pivot still tight as hell.. ( one of the strongest lock ups ive encountered ) broke it in to where i can flick it open with my thumb... despite all the politics behind this knife on this forum i am really liking this knife... i got a medium size collection and i keep coming back to the dpx folder....
