Been thinking about making folders in addition to my fixed blades, was wondering what type of lock to use? (liner etc).
What is your favorite?

Lock backs and lock liners are the most common, I think you need to look at what type of knife you are making, if it is a more modern design the a lock liner may be more appropriate, older western designs are more true to character as a lock back.

Was thinking about a more modern lock, just not a big fan of the liner lock. Contacted a few major knife manufacturers to see if they would liscense their locks, was told no. Guess its liner lock or invent my own, do not want to get into any kind of patent violations.

If you make your own there won`t be a problem Using a special factory one will be okay if you make one but not ones for sale. The usual used by many is one all can use without a problem and is an excellent way to go. It seems that lock backs are usually made in a more traditional pattern . Liner locking folders often allow for more personal designs, freedom, and materials.
