Eric explained where the liner meets up with the back of the blade, the blade is ground slightly concave so that it is more difficult for the liner to move to the unlocked position when under pressure. It also serves to prevent the liner lock from getting too tight if the blade is opened by "flipping" it open. At first glance, it appears there is no liner because the scales wrap around / enclose the liner. It was very smooth to operate and the clip is reversible for right or left hand use, but not tip up/tip down options. Very well constructed.

Note on the left hand side of the photo you can see the thickness of the blade on the Tan Camp Tramp Tactical.

 ... Holy phuckin sh*t! When's it being released? I want one, now.

Have any specs on it?

A lucky few got to sign up on a list to have an option to purchase the folder when it is released. If you weren't at the Blade show you're in line behind me! :p :D

This was on the debut thread:
Blade length approx 3.9"
OAL approx 9"

I think I heard someone say it's 1/8" stock (probably safe bet), and we know the steel is S30V. Beyond that, I'm sure Eric will provide shortly. :)

Release is tentatively set for late summer.
That's what we were telling everyone who asked at the show.
(And that was almost everyone who stopped at the SRKW booth.)

BTW, the first one on the sign up list was an Oinker. Can you guess which one?
(Here's a clue: He was caught wearing a Rat tee over on the sister company's forum here at BF.)

Eric, If you're adding any names to the list, count me in. Also, I'm frantically looking around my gear-pile that's before me (I finally am dumping and sorting my gear from my last deployment) and I CAN"T FIND MY CT!!! I REALLY hope I find it somewhere tonight... Maybe I'll have a bigger future order than I thought...

Hi!
I really like this AD based design. However I'd prefer a smaller choil because this would definitely reduce the chance of getting stuck during the cut. I know it is a design element for sure but it should be more like "form follows funktion" in this case. Apart from that a great knife!!!

Best regards

You forgot to mention you are the hand model in this photo op - you're famous now! :D

Double recessed stainless liners.

I think the washers are mylar.

G-10 scales (at least on the one at the show)

At the price point, sub $150, this will be a front runner! My one and only hope is that the tip is not ground needle sharp. Yes, pointy tips are great for poking stuff, but even on heavy duty folders they can break easily. Please oh please let it have a rugged tip!

Don't worry about the tip. Accidents like that would be covered by the SRKW guarantee ...
There will be no such things like a weak tip etc. I think SRKW have followed the two basic principles with the folder (as with their knives in general): 3F & 3M. Form Follows Function & Materials, Methods Matter. No compromise. A no compromise folding knife. Therefore, the folder will not work as a prybar, but it should work just fine as an EDU/EDC knife.

Btw, Eric wrote that the design below will probably be very close to the actual design.

[EDIT Aug. 12th '04: The picture didn't show properly in the last few days, now it should work again.]

If you want to see many of the features of this knife in one now look at the Spyderco Military. The back of the tang where the liner engages is ground the same way and its liners are nested into the scales.
I am REALLY looking forward to the swamp Rat folder.I think it may replace my Military as EDC.

I like it a lot better with the smaller choil...Will it be possible to get it with a Tip-Up pocket clip? If so, that would make it perfect for my needs.

Gotta agree there. I love my EDC Milie but will definitely be replacing it with the SR folder when it comes out. The point on the Millie is just too delicate for my tastes. I aready snapped the very tip off using it in a non-abusive manner. That Swamp Rat folder looks sweet!

Mm. That may very well be a folder I must get. Geez. Just when a fella thinks he's set for life for folders . . . thanks a lot, Swamp Rat. :)
