Folder pin methods

I would like to glue/pin the scales to the two metal side of the folder rather than glue/screw.

I was thinking of using a tap and die on the side and a nickle silver rod then fortify with a small soldering so the rod can take the force of peining.

Is this a reasonable approach? What alternatives are there to get this look (and structural support).

no need to tap the liners. when peened properly, the pins will hold just as well. www.chriscrawfordknives.com look at page 11 of the slip joint folder tutorial and he explains pretty will how to pin scales to the liners.
