Folder pocket carry, blade half open?

personally i've never had to fight the urge to carry a half open folder in my pocket, actually i've had them open partially and cut the heck outta myself accidently but the idea of carrying them open never occured to me.

i would say thats not a good idea, ya should just "brownie pop" it, or practice drawing & opening the thing, or get a fixed blade imho.

Hey Guys...

The Speed Dialer w/Mercharness allows you to carry the Waved Endura and Delica, even if you are Only in your Underwear!! :)

You never said why you feel a need to do this. Why do you want to carry a folder half open in your pocket, risking life, limb, and future generations?

If this is for self-defence, see James Green Dragon's reply. There are much better ways of defending oneself than a risky knife draw.

If you just want to deploy a knife quickly, try a wave.

I agree with Mark G. I have a hard time believing that the split-second you will save in drawing the knife from a half-open position vs. using a standard one handed open or a wave is significant no matter what the purpose.

If you really feel you have to do this, you should invest in some kevlar shorts.

I'm really surprised that no one has suggested the possibility that this is a mall ninja question?

I agree with Knarfeng -- why is there a need to do this?

A bad question. Please don't do this, I don't want to read in the paper: "Man dies from blood loss due to accidental amputation of genitalia." I for one value my moneymaker too much to even try something like that, even if it were practical. Just clip your knife to your pocket or carry it on a belt sheath like the rest of us. A knife is a tool, not a weapon. Well, unless you're in the military, in which case you'd have a fixed blade for combat anyways. I totally agree with James Green Dragon. Learn how to scrap. That's the best way to defend yourself, no matter what you've always got your fists. If you're inexperienced, a good idea is to grip a bic lighter in your fist to pack it, it always does the job and can be in your hand in a blink.

Sounds like a "Darwin Award" in the making. Please, carry your knife half open. Go, be fruitless, and fail to multiply.

This is a matter bagging for the Emerson Wave as a solution. THe least expensive form of such are the Waved Spyderco Delica or Endura.
