Looking for something smaller...
blade about 3" is perfect.
No axis locks,
no autos,
and I like thin.
No bulky handles,
No wide profiles when closed.
No Spydercos.
Thumbhole for opening a must.
Blade type doesn't matter.
Price... around $100 is nice, but willing to spend more.
I have a Sebenza, something of those dimensions or thinner is nice. Must have thumbhole!!!

Pretty specific I think. Thanks!

If you have a Sebenza, why are you searching for something more? Those knives are tops in my book.

I am trying to think of a maker that can offer you something with the specs listed, but I am coming up dry at the moment, esp with respect to the 3 inch limit and thumbhole.

What is your reservation about the Spyderco line?

Doesn't want a Spyderco, yet wants thin, thumbhole, 3 inch blade and thin. You just described a Spyderco or at least half of them. (oh ya and no axis lock which Spyderco doesn't have)

if you like it light & thin and 3", i'll suggest Burger HP MK1
those are the lighter knives i ever handle:eek:from all those years i have been collecting folder..

I have'nt this modele yet (but a Exkalibur) but i seriously plan to buy one for the next Paris knife show next month.:D

i have several spydies and bench in various steel (ZDP189, S30V, 154CM, etc..)
And honestly, i am not looking for a Blade that hold an edge for weeks but for a blade that i sharpen easely... which is the case with the 440C.
during Paris last year knife show, i really hesitate between Exka modele and HP MK1.
And i choose Exka one (i like blade profil)
After couple of week, i drop them a mail requesting a large custom modele, that i should received withing couple of day now..
cost is nearly 400 usd, and it is still 440C:D
In one month, i really plan to buy the burger HP MK1...
reason?
Lightness and smoothness in opening...
after all, love is in the eyes of the beholder !:D

The TNT has Bos treated s30V steel, thin titanium handles, strong frame lock and opening oval. Can be found at Ira Woods for around $145. It is a little over the 3" limit (3.125") and light (2.7 oz.)

I had a Sebenza. It just wasn't something I really liked. The one in particular that I had came with a few issues and it just left a bad taste in my mouth. At that price point to say I was disappointed with be a big understatement.

Yeah, it seems a small folder with thumbhole without axis lock is a tough tough find.

I just don't like Spyderco's. From the handle pattern layout, to the blade shape, to the overall thickness, to even the name.

Thanks for the recommendation. But it doesn't have a thumbhole!

I know I am being picky, but those holes in the handle are probably the thing I hate most in this world.

Indeed. The bug has definitely gotten me. My EDC is a Featherlite.
The Featherlite is exactly what i thought shen i read your criteria.

The closest knife in terms of thinness and thumb-hole is the Ka-Bar Dozier folders, but i dont think the build quality or steel can compare to the Featherlite.

Maybe you just need another Featherlite? They have two different stetel choices and a variety of blade shapes.

What he describes after looking at a few knives on the shelf is a Spyderco Yojimbo. Less than 3" blade, very thin and light, tough lock without axis, blade hole for opening. Too bad its a Spydie:( !

I just wanted something new to "change it up". You know what I mean?
