i say the zero tolerance 0200. exactly what you want. It does not have the features like the benchmade, but one of the sturdiest knife you can get for your budget. but of course, this is my opinion...

I would say go buy yourself 2 full sized Benchmade Griptillians. Say one serrated and one not. You will still be atleast 50$ under your budget and have two amazing knives. Ive owned a Bm 710, rukus, mini rukus, 940 and the presidio. And even though the handle is a bit cheaper than those models, i feel it takes more of a beating, and you save cash. Good luck.

I could go with the ZT0200 also. I reccommended the Rukus 610, but have my ZT0200 in my pocket today! Either one would be a great choice!!

I agree that the Manix is a great knife. It is built like a tank. The chance of breaking the tip on this and the Military is probably about the same. The Manix definately takes up a lot more room in your pocket, though.

I also love the Benchmade 710 and 610, but these probably would be harder to use with gloves. The thumbstuds would probably be harder to get to. However, with a little work on the blade pivot, you can get these knives to very easily when pulling back on the AXIS lock and still not have any significant blade play. Almost don't need to use the thumbstuds.

I just ordered a Benchmade 710 for $120(shipped) based on these recommendations.

Looking forward to testing out the D2 blade

I'd try a Wally World-sourced Buck 110, probably the best $25 + s/t you'll ever spend on a US-made quality knife. That one comes with a nylon sheath, for all-weather belt carry. Their 420HC Paul Bos heat-treated steel is gegendary, but, if you like it's style, you can get a 154CM bladed one via Bass Pro, or, my choice, a black At-Ti-N coated S30V 'Alaskan Guide' 110 from Cabela's.

If you want that same blade material in an excellent 4.1" fixed blade, I love my Buck 'Alaskan Guide' Vanguard - around $90. Great hand-fit and feel. It's also available in the 420HC for $60. Great feeling in the hand. Even the old Buck 119, at $34 + s/t again at W-W, is a bargain, but a 6" standard hunting knife.

You will be out less than half your available stash for any of these - and can easily 're-evaluate' your needs, too. Good luck!
