Anyone ever convert from SAK/MT to Folder or Folder to SAK/MT?

What was your reason? Job? Lifestyle? Carryability? Age? Habit? History?

Sure.

I grew up carrying SAK-like Boy Scout knives.

In high school, in the 70s, I thought I would be cool if I got a Buck 110, so I saved and got one but didn't carry it much 'cause it was, and still is, too heavy.

In college in the 80s, I thought I would smart if I got a multi-tool for bike touring and backpacking and got one and didn't like it much because it barked my knuckles when I used it and it was heavy.

In the 90s, I got an Opinel in a trade with some bike parts. Almost as big as a 110. Light as a feather. I've had an Opinel in my pocket most days since. I keep looking, but I've yet to find a knife as versatile, as tough and and light.

In the early 00s, an old timer at work noted my key ring Micra and told me that I would use it more if I carried in my pocket. Later that month, I was at a wedding with a cold beer in my hand, and no way to open it. I found my jacket, took the Micra off my keys, opened the beer and the Micra's been in my LFP ever since.

After the pendulum has swung back and forth between MTs and folders, this is where I've ended up. Oh yes... I keep a proper MT in my EDC day back/laptop bag. Don't use it often, but glad to have it when I need it. Just not in my pocket.
