I have sold a few things and now I find that a hole is burning through my pocket as I write, and I want to make an educated purchase. I would like to hear all of your suggestions and I am open to what my new knife will be, EDC, Tactical, hard use, -all is fine.

That said, my most important requirement is that any suggested knife should be under $100

I am not really picky about the blade size or mechanics (lock type)

I prefer a knife with a basic blade shape. Serrations generally are a no.

I know of a lot of knives that fit into these criteria, all from major name brands, so any options from smaller makers would be a plus. U.S. made knives are also a plus, but not a requirement. Feel free to ask questions.

Links to pictures or actual pictures will be appreciated;)

Thanks for all the help.

What do you mean hard use?

The Bottom 2 are the CS Recon 1 and 4" Voyager, both well under your $100 limit and classic blade shape with no serrations.

Great blade shape, good steel fantastic lockup, awesome ergonomics, carries well, looks good, capable of everything from hard use to fine cutting and best of all you can find it for around $70-80. IMO the best sub $100 folder, and better then many,, many sub $200folders.

Cold Steel Knives American Lawman™ 3.5" Plain Blade

CASE Swayback Jack.
I prefer the CV steel but their SST is as good as any in that price range ($50-65). 2.5" Wharncliff/1.75" pen blades.
The Wharncliff blade is designed to hold and cut toward your thumb like you would use to cut an apple or whittle a whistle if that appeals to you, as it does an old man like myself.

Thanks you guys, Awesome pics!!

By hard use, I just ment any knife designed to handle real hard work; close to a fixed blades capacity.

G-10 Tyrade by Kershaw. Handles are available in Black, Tan, or Orange G-10.

CPM-D2/154CM composite blade.

What exactly do you mean by close to fixed blade capacity?

The only 2 I can think of under $100 that are very strong are the CS Recon 1 and the CS American Lawman.

For something really strong you are looking over $200 easy like the Zero Tolerance or Strider Knives.

I am not sure which model that is. I even looked through the 09 catalog.

I am kind of tempted to save up for a ZT. I have been looking through the ZT catalog just drooling over them. Model 0300, 0350, and 0500 are my current favorites.

That's pretty much what you are going to need if you are thinking approaching fixed blade performance in a folder.

But NO folder will match a fixed blade for strength really.

I am just trying to keep it real here. :)

$125 or so would get a ZT0200.

You can get the ZT0350 for just barely over $100.

TOUGH folders, 100% American made, not much over your budget, outstanding quality......I just need to get one for myself now.

The Tyrade is just as beefy as the ZT 0350, with a slightly longer blade.

Here are pics of my 0350s:

The 0350s open much faster than the Tyrade. But they all open very fast. :D
