The knife Perfigo by Crawford/Kasper was featured in the latest edition of Tactical Knives. Mr Janich did a crushing test with a coconut. That triggered a desire to do the same at home... :)
My question is what other knives have scull crushers? The Perfigo is a bit too expensive.

I used to work at a Harley-Davidson shop in Madison, Wisconsin. We had a saying, "Don't force it, use a bigger hammer."

Same with this issue. The butt of the folder is the wrong tool. I received a Cold Steel Special Projects catalog last week. They have something called "The War Hammer." They cited a great historical fact; you cannot cut a knight until you get him out of his armor.

It makes you think.

I don't know of any. Actually the only production knife I know of that has a skull crusher is the REKAT Hobbit Warrior and it's a fixed blade. I'm pretty sure that company is no longer producing any knives(you can still get them some places, but hard to find).

Almost any knife with a handle over 4.5" inches long. The Benchmade AFCK handle is a nasty impact device, same with the 730, and many others. The butt of the Gerber Covert is designed to focus impact. You don't need two inches of exposed Ti handle to bust a nut.

Yes but the butt of the Covert is flat. I have four of them. Great knives by the way. I want some folder that is triangular in shape or similar. Mr Janich looked so determined when he cracked that nut. :D

It seems to me I've seen a MOD CQD??? that has a handle shape among other things to bust glass.

I reckon it's so far out of my price range (and I don't need to bust heads).

ok guys steel this idea.

Al Mar SERE 2000 type clip mount (bottom on steel back spacer).

Get longer screws, make a steel conical shaped spacer that sits on the back spacer and has holes for the clip screws to hold it in place.

the MT Socom E would make a nasty skull crusher.

Microtech Kestral. The butt end is very pointy. The pivot end of the knife and the exposed end of the blade have been clearly designed for maximium comfort and grip-ability in the closed position.

I'm assuming you're looking for a knife that is currently in production, but here's an historical knife with a serious scull crusher! This is the SOG TeamLeader from the mid to late 1980's:

Some can still be found. This model was recently bought by fellow forumite Bobby B.

If you're interested, more quality images can be found in this directory. They are the r#.jpg images.

The MOD CQD Mark II has a glass breaker at the butt. It can be reversed by backing out the little set screw and it then becomes an impact device. Skull crusher--I'm not sure, but it will deliver a painful impact when directed at any boney area.

I am with Timmy. Try a Commander OR a Mach 1. The Mach has a very nice butt!

Just showin' off!! PLEASE don't ask, it will be MONTHS before I can make another one :grumpy:

YES, that's a full size Commander:eek:

Neil! That thing is...is...BIG!

The butt of the Covert is not flat. It is peaked. One of my favorite folding knives.

Actually, even if it were flat, it would make a nasty dent in somebody's coconut.

My Spydie Chinook and Outdoor Edge Magna both have serious enough "skull crushers" or whatever you want to call them to dent the hell outta a paint can (I often use these to reseal paint cans when hammers aren't available)
