Folders that cut cigars

A few decades ago when I started smoking cigars the only cutters available were scissors. Folks hung on to them too long and although some of them were quite nice and very expensive they don't have a long lifespan. Just as bad for me you can't control the cut very well. And like any other pair of scissors once the blades get just a little bit dull and the blades don't meet properly during the cutting action they start splay apart and make a ragged cut.

And for someone that smokes a fair amount of cigars, during my daily smokes I don't always smoke the best quality. Not dog rockets, but some do have stems that seem more like twigs on occasion. Those cigars chew a good pair of scissors up in no time.

I always seemed to have a pocket knife that had a thin slicing blade. Way back then my favorite was a CASE medium stockman with a Persian clip blade. I sharpened the spey blade with the edge laid waaay back. That way I could/can start the cut on the flat and raise the blade so the belly bites deeper than the sides protecting the cap a little bit. Worked/works just fine.

I have so many "gimme" cutters now though I rarely cut my cigars with a knife anymore. Never felt undertooled with a really sharp knife, though.
