Folders with drilled-out handles

On Cold Steel Hold Out 1 , the holes are really functional in improving the grip .

Grail…

Thanks for all the contributions. A few personal aesthetic observations:
  • The holes provide multiple opportunities to 'echo' other circular features on the handle, like the pivot and screws.
  • This presents opportunities and tons of pitfalls.
  • Often the relationships between the holes and other features aren't consistent or geometric, and the effect is awkward.
  • Extremely chaotic spacing and sizing of holes ameliorates the need to find good geometric relationships, at the expense of…well, judge for yourself. ;-)

Kizer Critical might fit the bill
Yup, mentioned in the first post.

I'll have to handle one eventually and see. Also need to find out of they fixed the backspacer issue. Flippers should be kind to the palm. Jimping good, 90° corners bad.

Anyway the aesthetics of the hole/screw/pivot geometry on the Critical *are* great. The two backspacer screws are both in the same relationship to a corresponding hole. The pivot isn't in line with the row of holes, but it isn't *trying* to be, and its circumference *is* spaced from the last hole by the same distance as the holes are from one another. Great choices.

As I wrote this, a fear came over me that these decisions were all made by a "Snap to…" option in the CAD software. :-P

Never been a huge fan of the cutout scales, I worry that the edge is much more exposed when the knife is closed. That sèeems to be worse on some knives depending how the cutouts are done.

While not a drilled out knife I had to post this.
