Folders

Welcome to B.F. The reasons that I edc folders 98% of the time is for the same reasons that others have already mentioned
1. compactness - length of tool is half the size when not in use.
2.ease of carry - pocket clips vs a belt sheath
3. social acceptance - sheeple are afraid of razor sharp tools & can create a stampede if one sees a belt sheath.;)
 
I guess I'm totally opposite, but I can't imagine why the average person would ever carry a fixed blade knife except when hunting, fishing or camping.
 
Pocket knives fit in my pocket.
That is convenient.

Also, had I pulled out a sheath knife in the university library rather than the SnG to help that cute foreign girl remove a staple (how the hell do you have a power stapler in the building but no staple remover???), there likely would have been screams and campus police rather than a smile and a happy sense of helping out.

I also don't like the way fixed blade handles poke me when carrying in a city.
A gigantic fixed blade out in the woods is a different matter. I like a Junglas out there, or even this:



But I still carry a folder or three with me even then. :)
