Do ya guys have any good resources for design and build of folders?
Books, on-line sources, first hand accounts, etc.

I'm a ways off but interested so I may aswell study up while I build the requisite skills.

What kind of folders,liner lock,slipjoints,frame lock,lock backs?Need more info.

Hoss, figure out which direction you want to go. If it is folders,then read....read....and read some more.

I started with fixed-blades, and after a couple of hundred, I decided to try a folder.......... Whoa...... A whole new learning curve.

Decide where you want to start, and give it a try. All the research, note taking, watching others, and everything else you can think of in the world will not substitute giving it a try yourself.

Go for it...... You'll never know until you try.

I'm not a huge fan of liner locks.
All else is fare game.

I aint got a much knife experience but a fair amount of other craft work under my belt.
Figured I would start reading up now.

Slip joints seem to be the easiest, then move up from there.
But what would I know?

I need more info myself...
Just wondering where an efficient place to start would be.

Slipjoints are anything but simple.

Best book ever:
Slipjoints My Way, by Don Robinson

It walks you through a complete folder build, and even includes a pattern. It will take you from a know nothing to at least a basic level of slipjoint builder. Seriously. Great stuff. WORTH EVERY PENNY.
 
I'm getting ready to try a slip-joint build as well and have been researching the topic, and I'll share what I have found.

I'd recommend buying Don Robinson's book as mentioned above. He also seems to be available via email to answer questions and seems to like helping others build knives.
