Folding Bowie

Two that immediately come to mind are the Recon 1, from Cold Steel, as well as their Broken Skull model.
The Espada kind of reminds to that shape as well.
From Spyderco you have the Slysz Bowie and Navaja
Combative edge has the M1X
and I'd say that the brand with more bowie (with some drop point and some harpoonish curves) shaped folders is SOG, with their Kiku, Architecht, Fielder, Vulcan, Visionary and Fusion and on their higher end the FatCat, TomCat
Gerber also has the Gator and Paraframe,

Many of these are not clip points. So, they are not what the OP is looking for. Why not suggest some sheepsfoot blades while you at it too? o_O

And nobody is looking for a Gerber Paraframe. Yikes. Gerber Paraframe?!?

Most are clip-points according to BladeHQ,
and remember that the "Bowie" shape is not clearly defined and people often disagree with what that means (clip point, butcher's knife blade, arkansas toothpick style, dagger shaped...).

Also, I think that at least about 314 people would disagree with you about the Paraframe Link removed
not trying to deal-spot here

To the OP:
BladeHQ will set the parameters of budget and blade length added to the blade style for you:

While the original Bowie knives were not clip points, I am not the type who lets his opinion about Bowie knife history stop me from trying to help a person get the knife he desires. It appears everyone who replied feels similarly. The OP wants "clip point." We are trying to help somebody get a cool knife.

And the Amazon reviews of the Gerber Paraframe hardly prove it's a BF-worthy recommendation. If one wants the opinion of Amazon buyers, they dont need to come here.

Yikes, linking to amazon reviews for credibility of the gerber paraframe is grasping at straws.

I recommend a clip point slip joint, like a clip point barlow.

It's just a tad under 3.5", but I've really enjoyed my Giant Mouse GM2. It's not as robust a knife as the XM-18 or the 0392Bowie but it's a real looker! They have a full Ti version also, but I think it might be sold out? The GM2 brings a solid, Bowie style blade in a much lighter package than either of the Hinderer designs if carry weight is a concern for you.

Did someone mention the Gerber Paraframe? Did I actually see that in a $300-400 knife suggestion thread? I'm not sure I could even recommend the Paraframe in a free knife thread, lol.

My 2 favourite clip point blades. The SR1 and Recon 1. Plenty of good suggestions in the thread, all depends on your taste in style and the intended use. Best of luck.

I suppose we missed the obvious choice, an actual Foling Bowie/D'Estaing Dagger like thus Hubertus

I truly appreciate everyone's input. There are definitely a lot of knives out there that were not on my radar and now are. I just read about the Giant Mouse GM2. There is a lot to like about that knife.

From all of your responses, I can see how difficult it is to define what a bowie is. There is a lot to consider at this point.

Like I said yesterday, defining what a Bowie is is academic/irrelevant in this context. You have an image of the knife you want in your head. And we are trying to help you find that. It doesn't matter whether or not anybody thinks its a "Bowie."

And please don't get a Gerber Paraframe. If you come here for advice, and end up getting that knife we have all failed miserably and should be ashamed of ourselves.

Thank you again for your input. If there is one take away from this discussion, it is to not get a Gerber Paraframe =).

That is crazy.

Aint those things neat? They don't get discussed much, but they have been around forever.

When "shut" you have a good sized "fixed" blade. Then when you need more blade...sha-shing.

And that one actually looks like a switchblade to boot.
