Folding Dagger

I was actually looking into the Troodon with a dagger-style blade.
However the legality of simply owning an Auto is unknown to me right now. I can't imagine Auto's being fully prohibited in Ontario, Canada.. But I don't know.

In Canada a double-edged blade is viewed as a weapon rather than a tool and autos (if you mean switchblades or stilletos) are flat-out illegal and won't make it through customs. You may want to think about that before choosing to pack one around :).

They are perfectly legal in US and canada (even if you sharpen the false edge), and readily for sale in either country.

A double-edge might be legal to own in Canada but its viewed by police as a weapon, not a tool, if you're caught with it.

They are perfectly legal in US ...
This is a meaningless statement, as laws in the US differ significantly froim state to state, and within states, often from city to city.

It's not good to give advice when you really don't know, and misleading someone could lead to their conviction.

Forgot to say it's as far as federal law are concerned.

I am not arguing about that. Try to educate your officials ;)

You mean those people made blowdart gun and numchuk illegal? Not even gona try... :barf:

Don't buy this one, I hate mine. It's still new in box and I'm trying to sell it. It has no blade stop so everytime you close it the edge smack into handle/pin.

The false edge is covered by handle however if you decide to sharpen it.

I own that POS too.
Pass.

If you want an excellent double edged knife for self defence get a Kasper Scorpion and be done with it.

If you want a folder the dagger blade Cuda Max is good.
I've carried mine a long time.

As jzmtl pointed out ... be cautious if you are considering the large Gerber Applegate Combat Folder, unless they have changed recently there is no clip for carry and the pouch (for me anyway) is VERY uncomfortable. Also ... as Esav noted about state laws ... double edged knives of any kind is specifically forbidden for carry in the state of New Mexico. Good points!
