Folding equivalent of a fixed blade

It's obvious how you got to 1400+ posts in just over a year.....

This is your typical contribution to most threads, so in one word, nothing.

The problem is, unfortunately other people look at 'the gold' and the post count, and follow your lead...
Maybe think a little about why you're on this forum.
If you need to validate your existence that's fine, I guess posting a lot of nothing in a knife forum is something to do, but maybe just keep it to the W&C...

Your not doing anything for yourself, or anyone else on here with your continued 'contributions'

Just think about it....

Because this is such a great topic that never devolves in to poo flinging and always is interesting with fresh posts?

Are you daft?

"Fork!"
"Spoon!"
"Fork!"
"Spoon!"

These threads are the Bladeforums equivalent of Campbell's Chunky Soup commercials. :D

This thread topic comes up now and again. My answer is always the same - a good bali with a good lock is what I feel most comfortable with if I'm gonna be treating it like a fixed blade:

I never said that I was in favour of the topic, but 'General Knife Discussion' is what it is....

If you don't like a topic, move on to the next one.

No need to stop and post something stupid.....

Yes. Much better to derail the thread like you're doing now.....

To be blunt, you are doing no better in that regard, at least not in this particular post. You have instead spent your time insulting another member.

Whether or not you have your own opinion, it is your right to, but there is a time and a place for comments like this, and that place is not in a public thread, but I would think a private message.

I'm not going to say anything to your character, because I don't know you, but I have talked to Blues Bender on several occasions, and he has certainly contributed his fair share in my experience. If you think otherwise, then either keep it to yourself or talk to it between the two of you.
I see no reason to to start and argument in someone else's thread becaus you disagree with a comment made several pages ago, about something that is not other people "following his lead", but many people who have seen this before and know where it ends, myself included.

And Gold membership is not something to scoff at. We choose to support this forum, and in exchange are granted the ability to sell on the exchange and a few other privileges. What reason does that give for your sarcastic remark?

I honestly hope you have had a bad night/day, and this is not normal for you, because it is not warranted behavior against soemthing that was only meant as a warning and humorous.

And in regards to the actual question of this thread:
You won't ever find a folding knife that truly acts as fixed blade, as others have said. The reality is that it's not physically possible.
You will find, however, that most knives are really much tougher than people would lead you to believe. They will usually take much more abuse than we give them credit for, and really, you shouldn't worry too much about it in my opinion. As long as your knife is well-built and made to good tolerances, it will not fail you unless you take it heavy extremes.

I would suggest a Cold Steel Rajah II/III.

When in an environment that calls for and allows it I prefer to carry a 4-5in fixed blade. However there are times
when it would be better if I carried a folding knife. Which non A/O folding knives would be the closest to the fixed blade? I recognize that the main features to consider would be (1) Blade length (2) Blade Thickness (3) Pivot/lock up strength.
By BM Adamas 275 is probably the nearest to my requirements but it's A/O. Thanks.

Cold Steel Tri-Ad lock rules in this department. I would look at XL Tanto voyager, XL Recon 1, Spartan, Rajah 2/3. However the new 4-Max will probably be even stronger.

I carry a Spyderco for EDC tasks but its backed up by one of the Cold Steel Tri-Ad folders for brute force duties.

What I don't understand is all the apprehension about discussing this topic. We are just talking about the strongest folding knives. That should be a safe topic on a knife forum. I have my theories as to why it's not but that's a topic for another day.

Have you seen A Boker Plus Sniper Bladeworks Dark Hollow? Check that out, I've had mine 2 months and I've beaten the hell out of it, lock up is still at 30% and the lock hasn't failed yet.

I would have no reservations using my Rajah2 like a fixed blade. I keep it in my truck console.
