I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong forum, but I didn't think it belonged in "Wilderness Skills".

I'm asking for suggestions for a good folding knife that has a guthook and a plain edge (non-serrated) on the other. Buck and Kershaw have some good ones, but who else makes a great knife with those features? I'm not familiar with folding hunting knives except for the Buck 110.

Another option is the Spyderco Impala. It is a discontinued knife but can still be found here and there from good internet dealers. There were three variations of this knife. One was a guthook and plain edge.

I own a few Implalas and there are well made and designed for gutting.

VG-10 stainless blade with integrated guthook. The frame is G10 glass-fiber laminate, and the pocket clip is stainless. The Impala measures 8.75" open, 5" closed, and has a 3.75" blade.

I am posting the following link as it has a picture of the model mentioned. I don't know if this dealer has the knife or if it is a trustworthy dealer...it is posted only to show the knife.

Another option is to just get one of the Benchmade Rescue Hooks. I have one of the short ones from Knife Works $17.99. It is about the size of a silver dollar. I had a Browning Kodiak. While it worked well, cleanup was a pain and I have gone to all fixed blades.

Another vote for the Benchmade Rescue Hooks! Much safer than a traditional gut hook on a blade (bloody knife with gut hook + firm grip = split thumbs and a trip to the ER). I use the them on the elk and deer I harvest here in Colorado. Works like a charm and fits in your pocket!

Hard to find, but there's a discontinued Old Timer model like that, the 9OT.
