Folding Hunters!

My Dads old 225 is the reason I got into slippies, always wanted a knife like his.. only took me 4 years to finally get one too...(so many patterns, so little time!)

I'll see if I can find a pic of his... from before i cleaned i if i can...(he doesn't like patina, so i buffed it out for him a couple years ago)
Aha!

I got a couple R. Riders too, love their gunstock checkered brown bone, so just had to get a hunter in it... Wish someone with carbon steel (hey Case, listen up!) would do a checkered bone.. bu I digress..

Anyway, here is my current EDC(ironically...) Amherst Cutlery ''walden'' hunter, in 154CM and stag, 1 of 6. I lost this one last week, dropped it from a hole in some work pants.. Found it thankfully several hours later pressed into the snow in the driveway.

I, too, am a fan of RR's checkered bone. I think I'm going to have to look for one of those.

Here's mine. I always liked the concept of one blade for general work, and the other kept in reserve for the "moment of truth".

Old Bulldog. One of the most overlooked Folding Hunters are the ones Western made. A little slimmer and easy to carry.I must say tho, this ol' bulldog has some great features.

Greg I really--really like this ole Bulldog, color especially. Great knife.

Gary, that Amherst is a super example of the genre. Thanx for sharing. I find them to be just right for gutting mastodons and suchlike. And for just fiddling with in the old recliner in the evening. A great pattern. I read somewhere that it was the top seller for CASE in one of the long past decades.

does this count? not really as attractive as some of whats been posted but I like it, keeps a keen edge and the bone saw see's some use when hunting :)

Nice collection of hunters there John.

Great history on your dad's Western
and lucky he remembered it when he did.
Those Frontiers are often overlooked as much as the Westerns.

Somebody say 125OT? Found this one 2-3 years ago in Case
dealer's misc leftover cabinet.

Worth honorable mention is this DR6104L
Red Pakkawood, not bone.
Case also made a maple with finger groves.
Both made only a few years.

There's no need to dredge this matter up again here and now...Let's move on.

The Queen hunter is the one that rides in a spare mag pouch on my duty belt. Don't have a pic of my Case 6265 SAB SS. That one is kinda special because I bought it off the bay from someone in Bethel, Ohio. I lived there as a little kid until moving to the farm the next county over between my second and third grade years.

Had 3 or 4 more folding hunters (I do love them), including a Western w/sheath, one of the Camillus bullet heads (.30-30 I think it was) and something else or so. Sold most off when thinning the herd. Don't worry, the money was spent on guns. Steel for steel.

A bit big for pocket carry, but just a lovely pattern and useful for large work. Funny, while I carried the lockback 110 types some years ago, I just don't really much like that pattern anymore. But, there is just something sleek, beautiful and classy about a folding hunter.

Nice lot of hunters shown here.

I always liked the pattern and picked up this pair at the local flea market.I really like the Texas blade etch and it has Mesquite wood scales. The kicker is consecutive serial numbers.Im hoping research will prove the etch to be by Aurum. It is good quality and finely detailed down to our rivers running to the gulf. The Buck is a NKCA knife.
