folding kerambits

Thank you fellas for coming to my aid. I have spoken to Mike Turber and he assures me that the situation has been handled. Brad and I do still have issues. And we will work them out. Thank you

Liong

FWIW: if two people tell you you’re drunk - you better go to sleep.... If so many respectable members, knife makers and designers say you are a POS...Well... :barf:

At the NY Custom Knife Show, I had a chance to handle the Emerson folding karambit. I couldn't get my index finger in the hole comfortably. I got a chance to try out a few of Liong Mah's knives later, and his kerambit fit my hand like he designed it for me. (But all his designs are awesome!)

The Emerson is a beautiful piece, I've just got a fat clumsy hand :) But these knives are not as forgiving as a more open handle style, so I would suggest you try one on before you spend a lot of money on it.

Daniel, that's a step up for him. Last year in NY he was trying to sell knives out of a brown paper bag.
I really wish I had known about the 2 paid for undelivered knives a few weeks ago before the NY show. This guy just aint right.
As my friend Kit said to me one time, think long and hard before you say anything that affects someone's livelihood.Well since this is the second go round on this and he's still pulling the same crap, he must not care too much about his rep himself. That said, I could never own one of his knives at this point, everytime I looked at it I would be reminded of the character of the person who made it.

Lifter, I totaly agree. I do not have and will not add one of Duncan's knives to my collection as I refuse to deal with a person whose business ethics are so disgraceful. He needs to grow up and take a hard look at what he has done to his reputation.

Below is a copy of the email I sent to Brad and read aloud to Liong over the phone. I think this matter is put to rest as far as the version for BOSS.

Brad,

This is very interesting and I am not sure how to proceed without taking sides. The drawing the Liong gave to me is attached. Is this the drawing your produced from the plastic stencil? If so it would still be Liong's design, not yours. I did the same thing with Blackie Collins. The knife you see on the top of every bladeforums page is mine. I had Blackie do the CAD while I sat there with him from my drawing, and then I had Joel Pierela do the 3-D image of it. Of course things had to be moved and changed a bit to get it to function properly but the design is still mine, right?

Another analogy. The Mini-Raptor by Ferret (David Winch) was sent to me as a plastic stencil and a drawing. We made the knife and again I did a lot of the work in photoshop as we did not have a handmade prototype to work with. Should I claim the design is mine?

The only thing I can think of is if the design you have is radically different from the plastic model he gave you then there may be a bit of a problem.

All I had was the drawing. Using your thoughts I could claim it was mine as well because I am the one that made it into what you see now which is 100% computer generated by me in Photoshop. But I did not do that as the actual design was his. All I did was bring it to life. So if you drew it from his design then how can you claim it? Again I am not trying to pick sides here but your argument about the design being yours, based on what you told me above is full of holes.

Please explain further if you can so I can be clear on the direction I am going. I do not want to step on your's or anyone's toes here.

I will not post his email to me as it basically stated that he understood my position and my analogy.

I have never met Brad that I am aware of and can not comment on anything else.

But the Liong Version BOOSS Kerambit lives and I did read above about the clip issue. I still have a bit of time. Where does the clip go? Here is a front and back pic. Someone hlep here :)

The clip is a silly drawing I did to give the factory an idea of where to put it based on what I have seen of Liong's Kerambits on the market. Let me know Liong if this is OK.

I'd suggest putting it under the ring so that the ring sticks out of the pocket and could aid in drawing the knife. Also if it doesnt make to much extra work maybe you could drill and tap the holes so that someone could change it to tip-down carry.

I, like many others, will never own another Brad Duncan knife. He is his own worst enemy.

Poor form.

Lifter:

that would be absolutely hysterical if it weren't so damn pitiful. hahaha....ok, it is hysterical. ;)

I did own one of his knives, and it wasn't a *bad* knife, but after observing his childish behavior elsewhere, owning the knife made me nauseous....so I sold it.....for cheap.

Are the BOSS kerambits and Cheetahs shipping yet?

Has anyone handled them? I hate not being able to see, touch, feel before I buy. However, at the price you can't go wrong.

I like the Wave feature on the Emerson. However, I will wait for the production ones. I want something to use, not collect.

Looks like there is a Kerambit Mania after all. :)
How about a double bladed folding Kerambit ? Check this (at the Blades section): My page
