Brad,
This is very interesting and I am not sure how to proceed without taking sides. The drawing the Liong gave to me is attached. Is this the drawing your produced from the plastic stencil? If so it would still be Liong's design, not yours. I did the same thing with Blackie Collins. The knife you see on the top of every bladeforums page is mine. I had Blackie do the CAD while I sat there with him from my drawing, and then I had Joel Pierela do the 3-D image of it. Of course things had to be moved and changed a bit to get it to function properly but the design is still mine, right?
Another analogy. The Mini-Raptor by Ferret (David Winch) was sent to me as a plastic stencil and a drawing. We made the knife and again I did a lot of the work in photoshop as we did not have a handmade prototype to work with. Should I claim the design is mine?
The only thing I can think of is if the design you have is radically different from the plastic model he gave you then there may be a bit of a problem.
All I had was the drawing. Using your thoughts I could claim it was mine as well because I am the one that made it into what you see now which is 100% computer generated by me in Photoshop. But I did not do that as the actual design was his. All I did was bring it to life. So if you drew it from his design then how can you claim it? Again I am not trying to pick sides here but your argument about the design being yours, based on what you told me above is full of holes.
Please explain further if you can so I can be clear on the direction I am going. I do not want to step on your's or anyone's toes here.
