Folding Knife Advice Please

So if you are now considering two knives, what is your budget now?
Your original budget was $50-$75.

A Salt will cost ~$60 to 70, depending on the model.

A Delica for can be had for for about $50.

No way around the Salt. Anything with its corrosion resistance is going to be in that price range. But for EDC you could consider a KaBar Dozier. It runs $20, is well made and has decent steel. A Spyderco Byrd Flight or Byrd Cara Cara would also be in that price range and also has good performance. That would put you a tad over your original budget. And the performance would still be good.

For every day use, I would get the Endura 4 Wave.

For Kayak season, I would suggest a yellow handled serrated Atlantic Salt.

The Spydercos have the type of blade configuration that allow the points to do very fine extractions, including splinters in the hand. They cut exceptionally well and for good measure I'd try to find one with a tough black teflon or titanium finish. I wouldn't go with any of the salt versions because I don't think they cut very well. Rather, find a small bowel or something where you can submerge it in clear fresh water and dry. Afterwards, an oily rag should suffice to keep the blade in good shape.

Salt is one of the most corrosive elements you can expose a knife to. And once corrosion has begun, it's tough to stop. Still, any decent grade of stainless should provide a reasonable measure of protection until you reach the end of the day.

A large Cold Steel Voyager from eBay also is an excellent choice. It's light weight and other versions are available. The Voyagers come with 3-, 4-, 5- and 6-inch VG-1 blades, plain or serrated. (The 5-inch is particularly niceAnd many like the Spyderco Byrd Cara Cara, available with non-stainless grips. These are inexpensive and they're exceptional bargains. Oh, and take a good look at the CRKT M16-13Z. The blade is made from AUS4 stainless, which should be tough and very resistent to a salt environment. You can also get the same configuration with an orange Zytel handle which makes it awfully difficult to lose.

knarfeng, to answer your question, my budget would be more in the $100-$150 range since I'll be giving myself a few months to recover after xmas
