The Benchmade 530 is an exceptionally lightweight (around 2 ounces) EDC option, but I was curious if anyone found any other knives comparable in size, weight? Style of action and locking is not as big a deal, so that should open things up.

The Kershaw Leek is close (at 3 ounces), but the blade is awful thin for regular duty.

Boker Urban Trapper is as light as my 530 I think. It has to be pretty close.
Maybe the Spydie Chap.....little smaller tho, but a fantastic slicer!
Think the 940-1 is really light also.
That's about all I have to compare it to.

The ZT 0450 CF is 2.4 oz.

Benchmade 531.

Sorry, I just had to do it. Surprised somebody did not post this first thing.

Well, that would be too slow on the draw. I'd like something to pocket carry for quick, easy use on the job.

I came across the Ontario Rat 2, and I think that's the one. Only 2 ounces, good reputation for build quality, can be configured for any kind of carry, and it's only $30!

Actually, the chill is even lighter at 2 ounces. Thanks for th eheads up, I will compare them.

Skyline-US made with Sandvik 14c28n steel (and there are some Damascus and S30V models if you look around)

Chill-China made with 8cr13mov steel

I'd take the 0.5 oz penalty for the Skyline myself

CRKT Eros is even lighter, though the blade is ground from similarly thin stock.

I would second CRKT Eros and any Al Mar ultralight, they have three sizes Osprey, Hawk and Eagle. David Boye lockback is another, comes with a cobalt based blade not steel, so it does not rust.

Cold Steel Counterpoint 2 at 2.2 oz. CTS-XHP upgraded steel since last year.

I regret trading off my 530, I really liked the clean lines and symmetry of the blade. I wish I could find a good quality knife of the same size that looks similar but with a liner lock or frame lock.
