I am wondering Whether will folding Modern Steel aka (5160 Spring Steel for example) will enhance the steel versus an unfolded spring steel. I read that today's folded steel swords are only made that way for tradition and cosmetics. I know In the past steel was very impure and therefore had to be folded in order to make a good blade. Now, Today's steel manufacturing provides very pure steel and so folding the metal only use in cosmetic purposes. Is this true? I do not think so what are your opnions

It wouldn't serve any practical purpose other then looks. Be cool to see someone do it though.

folding modern steel is more likely to hurt than help. the only reason to do so is for cosmetics.

There are people who take high carbon content W1-W2 steel and fold it to get a hada like Japanese tamahagane steel. About 10 folds work right, which yields 1024 layers.
Since you loose carbon in the forge welding, starting with 1.2-1.3% is best.

Don't post another thread just because you didn't like the answers in your first one. It wont help anything but aesthetics.

Does folding modern steel Strengthen the steel or Is it just for cosmetic purposes .

No it does not "Strengthen" it.

But I am pretty sure people have already answered that for you

I will merge the threads.

Logan,
I understand you are in Malaysia where information and supplies are harder to get, and are eager, but please don't overdo a topic with duplicate threads posted two hours apart.
Filling out your profile is a good idea.
