Looking for a high quality, yet reasonably priced folding saw for camping.

Suggestions?

Thanks.

Opinel makes two good ones. The #12 and #18.

Also consider Bahco, Gerber/Fiskars, and Corona

Silky Super Accel 210 with large and medium tooth blades
40-45 bucks and you're good to go

If you have a Lowe's in your area, the Corona 10" folding saw for $20 is very nice.

Go for the Bahco Laplander!

I bought it in a pack together with a mora clipper.

Two great items.

I just picked up a 10" Corona. Great little folding saw.

Here's a link to the Becker Forums where I posted it earlier.

If you go, stay and check out the forum. Great group of folks there.

I've known many people that have done tree work to pay the bills and all I've known preferred the value that Corona offers.
I've had mine for maybe 20 years and she's still highly effective.
Great value, IMHO.

I had a Gerber that ive had since the 90's, it was a great saw but it got stolen.

I replaced it recently with what i thought was the same model, and it is terrible to the point of being unusable. The blade is too thin and flexes too much and it wont stay open. Would not recommend.

Ok so after some more reading the recommendations, it seems it comes down to these few saws & I've got some questions:

Silky Super 210
Corona 10"
Bahco Laplander

Which one of these saws both forward & backward? I would assume thats preferred.

This is going to be a camping saw, so its going to be seeing various different kinds of wood, live & dead.

Is there anyone that is more versatile like this and would just be the better cutter overall?

I see some saws have replaceable blades - I assume this is an advantage over ones that dont, but are these models with replaceable blades less sturdy?

I'd prefer something really durable.

I just got myself a Silky Pocketboy with the size 8 teeth. Haven't had a chance to use it but it looks like it fits the bill perfectly!Size 8 is very agreesive teeth but I can always get replacement blades with finer teeth if needs be.

Silky and Bahco are the two that most people prefer. I like the Bahco myself, but you couldn't go wrong either way.

I have both the Silky Super Accel 210 and the Bahco (Kershaw in the US). They are both very good but every time I let folks on a trail maintenance project use both, they prefer the Silky (although they still like the Bahco a good deal).

There are tons of prior threads on this topic so you could probably pull up a lot of reading material with the search function.

Forgot to add: For folding saws with relatively thin blades, I prefer those that cut only on the pull stroke (Silky). Over many years I've seen a lot fewer bent and broken blades on saws where the force is applied only on the pull. With a thin blade, if the force on the push stroke is applied while the blade is out of alignment and binding a bit, I've seen folks bend or break the blade. People who are tired after a long day of backpacking don't always saw with perfect mechanics.

And do check the prior threads.

Bahco Laplander

I used the same Gerber folding saw for almost 10 years before it crapped out. Just bought 3 more recently. Quality doesn’t seem quite as good as the old ones.

One thing to note is the Kershaw saw is the same saw as the Laplander, so whichever one you can get cheaper, go for it.
