Folding saw for camping?

I'll suggest the trailblazer buck saw. Comes in an 18" and 24" size. Both breakdown into a small 2" tube. Although it's bigger than the previously suggested saws, it will murder anything in it's way. I guess it all depends on your pack situation. It uses the big bahco blades as well. I carry both fine and "course" blades. Everyone brings their little folding saws when we go camping. But nobody ever uses them...LOL!!!!

Most bang for the buck is the little Fiskars sliding saw (I paid $12 for my last one). Silky makes saws from 5-20 inch blades in their folding line. I prefer those in the 200-300 mm range, but your preference may vary. You may also wish to determine whether fine, medium, or coarse TPI would best suit the wood you are dealing with.

I've only had experience with the laplander, so I won't knock the others mentioned.

To answer some of your questions:

You can change the blade, and it will cut and push/pull.

I've cut all kinds of wood live and dead without issue.
