Happy Thanksgiving fellow knife nuts,
I'm looking for a folding sheath knife, with some sort of one-handed opening. Want to keep the price under $100, I was hoping for some suggestions, if anybody has any. Thanks in advance!!!

I've only come up with a couple, the Gerber Freeman folder, Schrade Copperhead and the Cold Steel Mackinac hunter. That's pretty slim pickings!! Anybody know any more?

For under $50 you can get a Buck 110 or 112 and add a thumb stud.

I think what you're looking for is a Cold Steel Mackinac Hunter. One of my absolute favorite folding knives. Much-carried, much-used, not much-sharpened (CS does a great heat treatment on AUS8).
The sheath for it is good, too. Remove pocket clip for best results.

Good suggestion Rupe. I had those on all my 110s back in the day.

OP - you could always buy any folder of your choice, take the clip off (if it has one), and get a sheath made for it or buy one that fits it.

The Victorinox Trekker would be a good choice also. Would need to buy the sheath separately.

Just about any Spyderco ~~ as you have the Spydie 'hole' and the action is as smooth as silk plus you have the 'Clip'
or you can get a Custom Sheath made.*

If you have some patience and a drill press, you can add a thumb stud to any folding knife. All of my buck 110's and my 112 have thumb studs that I added for one hand opening.

And their custom sheaths to go with it.

Classic and classy 😀

Would be my suggestion as well. Cant go wrong with the 110.
There used to be a bar one could mount on the blade instead of the button. Dont know if that is still on the market.

That's a great idea, especially since I already own a 110! Where do you get a thumb stud like that? What's involved with installing it?

If you're looking for one that you can use without drilling a hole in the blade, USAKnifeMaker.com sells a variety of the clamp-on ones, both the studs and the bars.

If you go to their site and type "kwik thumb" in the search box you'll see them.

Or, if you want to drill a hole in your blade, they also sell a variety of screw-in thumbstuds.

Thanks for the advice, that's exactly what I am looking for. I love my 110, but lately been finding myself needing a one-handed opener. This is the best of both worlds

That was my suggestion. I love the one hand Trekker non serrated. Its too big for a pocket but makes a great belt knife. Has a good mixture of tool capability and knife capability.

buck110 excellent knife, wish it was lighter and thinner just a bit, theres Chinese copies but its not real thing.[B[/B]Buck should come up with lighter thinner version of 110 same blade length and same materials ,possibly belt clip.it would sell like crazy.

Cold steel recon 1 and buy a generic sheath that fits. Done deal. I do it all the time. My larger folder sometime see pocket or pouch/ sheAth. Depends on my needs.
