Recommendation? FOMO - I need a huge huge blade!

I need a big blade for chopping, hiking, battoning. Which one would you get?

None of the above.
I'd get either a CS "Chinese War Sword" machete*, or a Rite Edge 37 inch or 31 inch or 17.5 inch sword or their 12.5 inch Sgian Dubh. (Rite Edge's are all Damascus blades)
All are my choices are under $100 (one by a hole penny!). The swords would be suitable accessories for when I wear my kilt... along with a shield. and possibly a longbow, and back quiver full of arrows... :)
*costs several hundreds less than their not a Machete Chinese War Sword.

As I am got going to war (so far as I am aware) I don't really need a really big knife. A Mora Number One or CS Finn Bear (if for some reason my Buck 110 or Old Timer 6OT/7OT or two blade slipjoint folding hunter were somehow not up to the knife tasks at hand) along with an sharp axe or hatchet and either a folding saw or cable saw, and a large stockman or moose pattern in my pocket should suffice for all my needs. :D (has for the last 61 years or so, anyway....)

I'm back. Not to long ago I picked up the ESSE Junglas for a decent price.

I'm quite happy with the purchase and I have no major gripes but I did have a problem with the blade. You can read more about it here:

The blade is not as big as I thought it would be but also not too heavy in my opinion. Took it hiking and since I already had a lot of weight on my back I didn't feel it as much 😁

I do have to say that it doesn't quite bite in while chopping as I would like it to. It probably has a wider secondary bevel to help with edge stability.

The sheath is ambidextrous but the handle snap strap isn't. That's a minus for me. If you reverse the sheath, the knife cuts into the strap when you pull it out of the sheath. They solved that for right hand carry with a small buckle but you can't reverse it because the strap is stitched.
It's a minor detail but it could be important to lefties.

I also think the old skull logo is much cooler 😬

The handle is ergonomic, the kydex sheath is well made, multiple carry options, the knife seems well made and they have a good warranty which I hope I'll never need.

I would recommend the knife.

The XL cough my attention when it was announced. It's sold out, more expensive, hollow grind etc.

The Warcraft is not a hollow grind, it's an enormous flat-ground bar of 3V

Still think the BK 9 would be a good one. Saw your comment about it late, but it would be different feel and control with the micarta scales. I changed the scales on my BK 7 and it feels like a different knife. Hope the Junglas serves you well. One last thought although I do not have experience with them, something from Condor like pack golok.

A hatchet makes more sense. Estwing makes good ones, for very reasonable money. Then carry a knife that’s good at being a knife
I agree: Let your knife be a knife, and also carry the right tool for the job.
