Fool's dagger project (final pic added)

Richard, if I missed "liking" all your posts in this thread it was a mistake - WOW!!! I'm impressed with the work you're doing. Please keep the posts coming on the project.

This is a fantastic thread...showing some exceptional work so far. Thank you.

The pommel had hardened in a very slightly clenched position.
I carefully worked the ball into it and it closed around the ball again for a very snug fit.
It looks great to me, so I'm happy with the pommel.
I just finished grinding and etching the blade.
I went with a new 60 grit, then a new 120 grit and then finished with EDM stones and hand sanding to 1200.
The bevels and center line went about perfectly by my standards, so I might wait until tomorrow for final assembly as I may have used up my luck for today.
The contrast from the etch looks really nice and sharp, but I'll be damned if I can take a good photo of it.

Fit up day.
I installed the twisted wire into the mammoth handle.
All the pieces fit together nicely and I like the overall proportions.
I'm about to do the final glue-up.
Since it screws together, the appearance won't change, but it will be more solid and permanent.
(the wires are standing up just a hair from their slots under the pommel, so I will carefully flatten them to remove that tiny gap).
It looks really nice to me overall, so I might invest in some Coop photos.
For now here are a couple cell phone shots.

Beautiful, absolutely beautiful!!!

. I really wish you had done the bottom of the wire twist like the top and made it turn the corner. The optical difference is huge. That said, no one will notice because of the overall beauty of the piece.

Thanks Stacy.
I thought about doing that, and it is the most common way in the ones I've seen, but then I would have tapered the handle more to meet the spacer above the guard.
Having the spacer as a pedestal and the wires come out of holes is something I took from the Bruce Bump piece. I could have done without the stress of drilling those holes...
