I/WE:D have a 50 inch high end Panasonic plasma and love it looked at both(lcd) as has been stated if you want to view at any angle over@ 35 degrees lcd is "NOT" good!!! glare can be problem but he-- that is what shades or curtains are for, and for the money saved you can buy alot of curtains;)!!

Ditto.

I did a HUGE amount of research before the MILF and I decided on a Panasonic plasma.

Ours is also three years old, and not a single issue.

Plasma's dead/ dying technology. LCD is the way of the future. I know because I used to design and market them for a major OEM manufacturer. Samsung makes the best LCD panels.

Yes this may be true but my Plasma blows away the Pq in both my LCD and Led tv. Plasma isn't dead yet if they sell it. Doesn't mean the newer technology is better.

samsung kicks so much ass their foot turned purple. my cousin and his wife have a samsung large lcd tv and the pic quality is awesome.. i will be getting one just like it when our 10 yr old large projection tv quits.. that thing just wont die

Forgot to mention that plasma will eventually "burn out" -if I remember correctly, I believe the life is 3 years if you leave it on constantly.

LCD uses lights on both the top and bottom of the screen, these take longer to burn out and if they do, they can be easily replaced. A plasma screen is junk after it has burned out.

LCD also uses less power ... and is thus more economical in the long run.

LCD is also lighter in terms of weight, so if you're tempted to wall mount the TV, it will be easier to do on your own.

LCD is the way of the future look at the percentage of plasma vs LCD in stores now compared to a few years ago. Times are a changing and it favors LCD.

Plasmas are rated as having just as long a life as LCD - ie. their half life is about the same - generalizing between brands it's often about 4.5 years of constant (24 hrs a day) use before you loose 1/2 the brightness (in which case a simple recalibration will provide you with some more life out of the tv, but in 13.5 years at 8 hrs a day you might want to buy a new one anyway :p).

The percentage of plasmas vs. lcd's above 50 inches in stores is often quite similar. It's not as economical to produce plasmas under 42 inches. Thats the reason why, that and they got a bad reputation when the first came out that people can't seem to let go of.

You just can't beet plasma for picture quality and value for money - nothing comes close. Unless you have a really bright room that would give too much glare on the glass screen, then it's hard to think anything would be better. Maybe I'm not seeing something here but I hardly see them being phased out - that would be silly when it gives a better picture...

The only advantage lcd has is weight. How often are you going to move it? My plasma has easy handle which makes it easier to move than my lcd or led that weigh less. Less power probably $5 a month savings in LCD.??? I own plasma,LCD and led. The plasma looks the best. I'm no fan boy either. If my LCD or Led looked better I would say so. Plasma will last 60,000hr to 1/2 life. You'll want a new TV by then. If you wear it out you need to quit watching so much TV and get a life :). The only draw back plasma's have is ppl don't break them in proper for the first 200-300 hrs.

The wife and I are getting a new widescreen in a couple weeks, but whats better/ Plasma or LCD? One salesman says PLasma but another says LCD... Opinions? Where to find the best info??

Thanks for your help!

Get LED, runs cooler, weighs less, uses less power.
