A friend of mine asked me to make a knife for his ex-stepson who will be deploying as an MP in January. Here's what I came up with:

OAL: 12 1/4"
Blade: 7" Tip to scales
Steel: 1/4" thick 440C with a bead blasted finish
Handle Material: Charcoal Canvas micarta with black vulcanized fiber spacers
Sheath: Spec-Ops Combat Master, ACU

Very cool knife Mark, I really like it a lot. Very nice of you to make it for a soon to be deployed soldier as well.

Very cool knife. I hope you don't mind if I ask a question. The handle slabs are pointed at the front. Is there a word for that? I like it.

Thanks guys! I was hoping he would make it back here before he was deployed so I could give it to him in person, but he can't make it. I'll be giving this to his family and have them ship it once he has an APO address.

Peat, I'm not aware of any term that describes the front of the scales (other than "less boring"), but if there is, I'm sure someone will chime in.
