For a user, how does the B11 stack up to the NMFBM?

This one has been debated a lot in the past ... my take on it is that it depends on how you sharpen the knife ... these older blades have quite a thick shoulder behind the edge ... which if thinned down so the convex grind is a bit more like a flat grind for the area above the edge and then blended into the area by the spine for an appleseed shape ... then which works the best probably depends on the "user" as the grinds are then at an optimum ...

What probably happened from people like myself who stripped their CG NMFBM and then cleaned the tool marks off is that this shape was created by hap-chance and the performance of the .25 NMFBM was "noted" as being pretty amazing ... and the guys who had a satin finish on the .29 NMFBM LE's were less inclined to mess with the satin finish ... but I think if they were both equally altered the heavier NMFBM LE would have the top slot ...

Exactly. I stripped my CGNMFBM and thinned it some behind the edge.

Find a hog near you and try both. Nothing is a substitute for firsthand experience.

Sweet username btw

I just did a side by side comparison today.
For branches and smaller trees they are equal. But for larger trees the NMFBM is a much better chopper... Goes through trees much faster.
Depends what you want to use your knife for.

I love how this topic is brought up every few months! I love the NMFBM for anything around the house & property...especially when a tree needs to be cut down. However, I NEVER take my NMFBM camping nor hiking as it weighs more than my pistol does with a full mag!
It is definitely beneficial to have two larger blades IMHO; one donker blade like the NMFBM for heavy work, and one light and quick blade like the BWM for lighter chores. I carry my ZT BM-E with me in my pack to trim & clear trails (EXCELLENT swing weight), but the NMFBM stays home and comes out on special occasions...for instance, when my friends come over and ask me "what the hell is a Battle Mistress?";)

Dammit, now I need an NMFBM too. Anyone got one they want to get rid of? Send it to me for proper disposal :p

Man, from the specs, the B11 is not that much longer overall length than my FSH 2008LE, but significantly lighter in weight.

Longer blade and lighter weight for hiking. Hrm...... But meesa FSH 2008LE is so purdy and solid.
