For all you hillbillies

Ok im 99% sure it's official, just the mention of slaughter holler and ramps, made my grandfathers mouth water,....in a way BD4 its a good thing jenn is in the hospital....poppy said no one will come near ya for a week after eating them.

so in a bit we may see some pictures!!

From the pics them ramps look like what we mountain folk from Northwest Pennsylvania call a leek. Boy they make good dip, soup, and are good in most everything as a seasoning.

these were my big finds for the year so far, and im a even bigger newbie at this than knifemaking......which i owe upmost thanks to mr. birdog for teaching me alot this year, i have been in the woods my whole life, but never really opened my eyes till now to see what was out there.

I don't know about ramps but once I was telling a buddy of mine from Green Bay
about cooking down Rhubarb into sauce and putting it over baking powder biscuits
like strawberries and apparently he had never heard this cause he said You are a
Redneck--- maybe.

My cookbook mentions ramps - but doesn't recommend them ! One serving of ramps makes you smell of onions for a week ! It's OK for those living in the hills where there aren't many people to be offended by the smell.
