For all you "I'm not a hat person" people out there

So I have never considered myself a hat person. I don't like wearing them. I don't think I look good in them. etc etc. For whatever the reason do all you people that don't like hats, do you still wear them in the outdoors? If I am on an extended trip, I usually take along a sunblocking wide brimmed hat.

I've been wearing the same OD bush hat for about 20 years. I use it all the time in the bush but only in the bush.

Someone recently told me to go to a place where nobody knows me and wear a hat the whole time. People will think you do it all the time and see it as quite natural on you. Mac

Sun burn is bad for ya' (C) and the flies here in Summer like to bite your head.

Remember all those pictures of cowboys and Mountain Men out and about with no hats? (I don't either.)

Brims!

I don't wear them on a daily basis, I just don't like having them on. But with a shaved dome, if I'm out in the sun at all, I have some type of hat on.

I'm not a hat person. But yes, I do wear a hat if I'm going to be in the sun.

It's funny, but I spent most of my formative years in the CA Desert, and used to go exploring all the time. Never wore a hat. Sun never bothered me. But as I grew older, I found myself needing to protect myself just to keep going. Nowadays, I can't go in the sun for any extended period without a hat, or it just kills me.

Hats aid in Camoflage as well. Darkens the face and if like me you wear glasses, you are less likely to reflect light. if you're looking for food, it could mean the difference between eating meat or track soup. I like hats though, so I wear them often.

I really don't like wearing hats, but they are too useful to leave off. In the summer heat, I'll grab a real hat now, not just a ball cap, and keeping sun off my neck and temples keeps me cooler, too.

I've got another problem. My eyes are very glare-sensitive. Sunglasses will do just so much. I need a brim over my eyes, at least a ball cap, and I can feel the difference. It feels like taking physical pressure off my eyes.

I wear a OD green boonie in the bush just to keep the bugs and weather off my head. Other than that I wear a uniform hat sometimes to work which is a ball cap.

I don't tend to wear a hat every day, but for outdoor activities (particularly sailing) its a must. You won't ever see me outdoors without a pair of high quality polaroid lenses on my eyes though.

I'm not a hat person, and rarely wear one when outdoors. Even working in the desert sun, I didn't usually wear one. Sunglasses and sunscreen, always.

My hair seems to be getting a little thinner though, so I may have to start. I noticed some sunburn on my scalp after driving the convertible for several hours one day.

A western style straw hat in the summer and a good felt hat in the fall, winter and spring, when doing anything out in the boonies.

Baseball style cap for going out and about in the hot sun in town.

In my opinion, if one were to be out in the boonies in a survival situation, a good felt hat would be far more useful and protective than a baseball style cap... or a bandana wrapped around one's head. Has been for me, anyway.

JMHO.

Most people that know me know that im a hat person. I almost always have a cap on unless im indoors. Its nice because it keeps the sun out of my eyes. Also in the mornings if im really late for class I can jsut throw on my cap and not worry about my hair being all messed up.

not a hat person most the time, but outdoors I have a cool Australian style waxed cotton hat that I wear + sunglasses.

Some people aren't CLOTHES people (naturists/nudists/etc.), but, to avoid facing the consequences, they usually conform.

Same thing with keeping your head protected from exposure. You might not like it, but you will have potentially bad consequences from not wearing something.

Im always having a hat on outdoors.. It helps my eyes as i dont like bright lights. Its also thinking about the future. I rather not have to deal with cancer later on. Besides its one of the best ways to stay cooler in the sun. My favroit hat just fell apart acouple months ago and im still looking for one... Been thinking about Tilly hats, the price holds me back if i lose it.

Wasn't a hat person in the past but this year can't walk in the sun without one. Got to feel 10 degrees cooler with a hat. Found a white boonie type at Wally World a few years ago and brought it out this year. Folds up and packs pretty good, a little wrinkled when first put on but who cares. If it prevents the big C the wrinkles don't matter. Maybe a Tilly next year but can it be packed, slaped on the pant leg, opened and worn? Anyone have the hemp Tilly? Do you have to baby a Tilly?

If memory isn't out to lunch again, Tilly will send a replacement if you loose your Tilly hat.
