I'm ashamed that I never got to serve, not for lack of trying, I tried them all. Hearing loss and bad timing.
I did produce a Marine who as we speak according to a Satellite phone conversation a couple nights ago is living in a fox hole someplace in Iraq. Just him and 5 other guys in his squad. Apparently in the middle of nowhere, no buildings in sight. They deliver drinking water and sometimes snacks. Hasn't seen a shower in 2 weeks.
Went through a record sand storm, reportedly worst they have had in I forget how long. Said the thing that saved them is they left a truck and all 6 climbed in the truck. Lasted for two hours.
When it was done, they had to dig to find their gear???
I can't figure why they aren't rotating them if the deliver drinking water. Don't make sense.
Course he says it won't be long, supposed to go to Kuwait around Christmas. I told him that was 2 months away and a damn long time to be living in a hole.
He did say they were supposed to bring in a hot meal today "maybe".
Hoping he gets to call again so I can get more info on this, don't make sense.
