For CRK Fixed Blade Lovers Only!

Very cool design. CRK is very busy. The last custom blade that I saw that Chris made sold for over $2,000.00. The small GB or the Neil Roberts knife doesn't suit your purposes? The CRK fixed blades are truly awesome but being a city boy I don't have much use for one. :) ;) :p :D

I'm sure they are very busy, But I still have hopes that they will have time to look at my knife. I was going to have them make a 5" Project One with mods. for me a few years back just before The JFKSWC passed the word about the New Q knife that was being made by CRK, witch turned out to be the Y/GB. The price for the 5" P/O would have been the same as a full size P/O. So I know that they are willing to do this type of work. I hope with so many showing intrest in the OPSAC that it may be a small run of them made, witch would help keep the price down, but for me 1 is all I ask for. Like they say, "The Batter who never steps up to the plate never gets a hit" or "Who Dares Wins" or "You never Know until you ask" and so on. I can only say PLEASE and hope for the best. I guess I've always been the type of person who looks at my glass as being half full vs. half empty. My fingers are crossed for not just me but all who want one. ;)

So guys if you Love the CRK fixed blade knives and have a need for one and haven't already, post your feelings about it and if you would want one. It may help CRK make up their minds as to making it or not. :D :)

Sorry, I was in a hurry and misled by sheath, so instead of goofy questions I went home and drew rough outline of your design to scale to compare to ShadowIII to give me a better idea. That would be such a neat knife, esp the usefull stout blade shape.. I too am now hoping for lots of people to show interest, giving lower cost which give more interest. I am certainly intrigued and desirous.
Very neat idea Recondo!
cheers

You mentioned them making a small run. I hope they'll add it to their regular lineup. I don't remember who said it, but I like the idea of them making both a small size (yours) and a larger version, as they do with many of their other models. As I said in my other post, I'd love one just the way you designed it, but would really find one with about a 6 - 7 inch blade of that style super cool.

BTW, about a week before your post I've sent to Anne & Chris my idea of Ubejane modification... take a look at my "virtual knife" and you can probably see why I like yours:

Nice designs :)

Just curious, how are prices on customs? Are they similar to others in the One Piece series or significantly more expensive?

I really can't answer that, I know that they offered to do mods. on a new Project one for the same price as the knife would be new. Thats fair!

Just to clear it at this stage... none of the discussed knives has been ever made. And as far as I know you can't just order your own cutsom knife at CRK any more... :(

Guys, I still say keep your fingers crossed. NO NEGATIVE THINKING, if enough of us want it , just maybe they will make it!!! I have high hopes. If they say no to the OPSAC or the Ubejane Mod. then I will be the first to say I was wrong about CRK! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :D

recondo4u,
Nice design. I've been eyeballing this thread for several days now wanting to post a reply. There are a couple of things about your drawing that just won't work, but nothing major. One thing for you and anyone else interested in "custom" one piece knives to keep in mind, all knives in the one piece range come from 5 common blank sizes-4 1/2, 5 1/2, 7, 9, and the skinner or Ubajane. Your chances of getting a custom made are much greater if it can be made from one of these blanks. Keep in mind also that all of these knives start out life as a lathe part, so all of the dimensions that you see in a profile like your drawing are concentric or share a common centerline. Consequently, it wouldn't be possible for your knife to made from one of these blanks since at least in your drawing it doesn't appear that the width of the blade conforms to this criteria. The last thing I noticed was that you have the cutting edge of the blade lower than the heal part of the blade behind the choil. You won't find this on any one piece knife as the blade depth dimension is established on the lathe. The cutting edge is always even with the heal. Like I said-nothing major. I would think that something very close to your drawing could be rendered from the skinner blank. Possibly something like peterm's virtual knife with your thumb ramp added. Limited runs of one piece knives have been made in the past-NICA Tantos, Moskito, andthe Katathu come to mind and I have it on good authority that there is another coming out soon, when I don't know, but keep an eye out for it. Her is my "custom"-the knife on the left. 1 of 27 world wide and 1 of 2 in the US. 6"(not made from a standard blank) Moskito Tanto

Hey Mike!
Yea you are right about some changes. I posted that I was sure that some would need to be made, if indeed CRK will even make it. My drawing is just that, a drawing, witch is just a basic idea. A engineer I'm not but a Soldier who has put the CRK's to task I am, and I know what I would want in this type of knife. I use my G/B as a field knife and it does the job very well. I just want a smaller fixed blade HOLLOW HANDLE knife that can be belted on to my ACU's in the mornings and not even noticed that it is there until I need it. Chris Reeve Knives fits that bill. If they could meet Piter's and my design half way, I think they wold have a real winner on their hands. It seems everyone is telling me what CRK will and will not do, and you guys might be right! But until I hear it from CRK themselfs I will just keep my fingers crossed and hope they like it and are willing to take a chance on the disign. :) If not then there's always the Ubejane Mod that Piter's working on, and I find it pretty awesome. if it had a lower cross guard it would work out fine, the thumb ramp is not that big of a deal, I just want that lower cross guard added. That is in case one would ever have to sink the blade into aircraft skin or something along those lines, it would keep that hand off the blade, witch in the CRK's we all know how sharp they are.

I hope to hear from CRK soon, and if they Ok it I will post it here as fast as I can, if they say no I will do the same. Guys I may be getting my hopes up and I really hope that I'm not dragging some of you down the old hope path with me. All I can say is we shall see! ;) ;) ;) ;)

"BTW"
Mike and everone else, I have been meaning to say thanks for all of your input! these are the things that may help get it made.

:D :D SO THANKS GUYS!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

That is a Great looking design Recondo! Did you get the Ubejane from Mark in the exchange area? Just wondering... :)

Thanks for the thumbs-up! No, I did not see Marks post until you said something. I did find a Ubejane however so if you are looking for one... there it is!
