I currently sharpen with DMT benchstones and the Aligner clamp. While the clamp isn't the greatest I do get great results with this combo.
My question is this: I need a good field sharpener and am considering the DMT Diafold Fine/Coarse. Can you use the Aligner clamp with the Diafold? I mean, will it work well? or just OK?

Walter,
DMT Double Sided Diafold is very useful tool, especially for field use. But it is intended to work free hand, not with Aligner clamp. I think after some practice you could obtain good results working with Diafold free hand.
On the other hand if you want to use Aligner clamp in field conditions I could advice to buy Aligner guide rod and hones with required grit.
