FOR EUROPEAN sales, what is the advantage of Friends and Family?

I get the point of some using F&F for US sales, and this has been discussed to death here, so I am not asking for that.

Within Europe, especially the EU, is there something to be gained, by the seller naturally, by asking for payment in F&F?

Any experience?

The advantage is that the seller isn't absorbing the fees and doesn't have to deal with potential issues with returns. There is no benefit to the buyer.

You end up paying the currency conversion fee and have no recourse if the deal goes badly. If the seller is a full-time vendor he/she should bear the burden of the G&S fees, including the conversion. If the person is a solid and reliable maker/friend then its between the 2 of you. A vendor who regularly sells knives (anything) through PayPal but uses F&F will eventually get called out by PP and likely loose the ability to sell through that service. In their best interest (if they care) to maintain a solid business relationship with PP and not try to scam them out of their legitimate fees for service.

Within the EU many countries use the Euro, same currency.

I wonder if there is any tax benefit, like in the US

Well yes - if you are posting from Europe there won't be a currency exchange fee. Sorry, I assumed you were asking from the US.

Being in the US does not offer a tax BENEFIT on the contrary you will get any sales over $600.00 automatically reported to the Internal Revenue Service. This is what freaked out so many people from continuing to use G&S for private sales. One would assume that a "business" is already set up to report accurate income data. I see no disadvantage for businesses using G&S.

I am quite aware of the US paypal discussion and mentioned it at the beginning, to avoid having another thread on the same topic.
(It has been discussed a looooooot)

I was wondering, from those esperinced in selling through paypal, within Europe, if there is any reason to ask for F&F, or whether they assume that this is now the new "standard"

It's super handy when the seller is planning on ripping off the buyer. Real time saver!
