The problem with knives with pointy choils is that they keep cutting and scrathing your finger. The knife looks really cool though.

ooohh... that is cool... i love the harpoon... though, now that they came out with the mini, i want that one too...:o

Darn it, I was kind of getting into the look of it, but unfortunately 'appeals to neo-nazi mall ninjas' just kind of ruins it for me. :grumpy:

Hey dude, look for the silver lining. Running into neo-nazi mall ninjas can make you feel real good about yourself! :D

Fortunately I don't go to the malls. I would hate to see it on a neo-nazi mall ninja. I couldn't laugh as much at them as I normally do. I would have to thank them for buying the knife,,,,and then laugh!
To answer the other question, the Harpoon was designed to be just that, a Harpoon. Mainly for frogs, fish and small game. When cord wrapped it can be used as a small knife. The whole idea was for it to be an accessory to a larger knife. I use mine in combination to a Becker BK9 and feel as if I have my bases covered. The Harpoon will not be the knife for everyone. You either like it or hate it. But hey, that is why they make so many knives.
The Damascus one will be a one of a knid that TOPS came up with to be raffled off at the Blade Show with all proceeds going to disable veterans.

I'm liking the XL version of the Harpoon. Looks like it would be much more useful as a knife, which is how I'd use it 99.9% of the time. The biggest concern I have using it knife-like is the narrow handle would want to turn in your hand when making a cut, especially since the edge is quite offset from the center line of the handle. The wide knob at the end of the handle might help offset that though, if it was held within your grip during use. Can anyone comment on this with in-hand experience?
