For My Groomsmen...

Im looking at getting a single blade knife for my 4 groomsmen, and then getting the blade etched/engraved with their initials and the date of my wedding in it. Anybody got an idea of what a good size blade would be for a folding knife to get it to fit everything i want? I was thinking at least 2.5-3 inches. And im even open to the option of a fixed blade knife. Just trying to do something somewhat cost effective for me (so no the knives will not be high dollar) and not something everyone gets as a groomsmen. Any suggestions im all ears.

I saw some Kershaw Boot knives somewhere and the website did whatever engraving you wanted aswell. $40 a piece. I wanted to get a couple for me and my son with some engraving done, but never went with it because of money at the time.

Thats not bad, i may have to look into that. I was thinking something with more of an antique feel. Like a wood or bone handled folder or hunter...

If u want function and longevity, i was given a Spydie Native, ans let me tell u, of all the thing i got, its the only one i know where it is now! nice Swiss Army knives rock too.

For less common gentlemen's knives you could take a look at Mcusta or Al Mar. Or get a traditional...

I agree with the Swiss Army Knives. Perhaps a Pioneer or $23 or a Farmer for about $32. They have an engraving plate as well. If you want a lock blade a Spyderco Ladybug runs from about $25 for FRN to $38 for stainless steel.

Again, the Victorinox Solo has an engravable space on the back panel for this very reason. Great knives. But my suggestion is to get them Soldiers. Not made anymore, but still available. They won't be available soon, and they'll be more valuable/unique. The Soldiers don't have an engravable panel, but Pioneers do. (Same knife, just not year-marked, or a military lineage if that matters.) The Solo is a great knife.

im not expecting these to be something that is used and abused, although some people may run it through its paces. Lets say i have about 60-70 to spend on all 4 knives total. Any suggestions on something decent?

i know you guys probably think im cheap, but i just have to go with what i can afford. And thats probably $20 a knife at the most. i just have to go with what i can afford, and unfortunately its not going to be anything fancy, just a simple keepsake.

The Victorinox Secretray, Solo, Tinker and Super Tinker can be had for under $20 if you look around. Also the Leatherman Micra is under $20 and might be a good option for the gadget factor and it is also a great tool.

+1 for the alox SAK.
As alternatives, I would also recommend something even more traditional and old style, like an Opinel or a Peanut (don't know how u could engrave it tho)

Lone Wolf put out a knife a while ago called the Blackfoot, now that Benchmade bought them out, they put out a much lower cost version called the Swale,

looks great, I have the original and its one of my most comfortable knives, would recommend checking it out, it streets for much less.

Also Check out the Tailout, I think the smaller one would be a very nice choice, and even cheaper than the Swale, probably a better choice considering your budget.

Leatherman Micra - extremely functional and fits your budget. I have been carrying mine for probably close to 10 years.
