For Sal or Kristi, Regarding the Sage

I've been nothing but happy with my Sage, and as I was talking about Spyderco with the owner of a knife store here in town, he showed me a Sage with no markings on it. Everything looked identical to my Sage (I pulled it out of my pocket to compare) except there were absolutely no markings of any kind on his knife. The pocket clip didn't have the black coating, but everything else - the jimping, the spacers in the back, the dimensions, clip location and type, screw types, everything - was the same. He told me that this Sage was a US-made prototype, but didn't tell me where he got it. There was no box or paperwork to go with it. The price was $90.

Can anybody verify whether Spyderco made a few prototypes of the Sage in the US, and if so, could this be one?
 
Sounds like a hot, fallen of the back of a truck, type of thing to me man.
 
We don't sell Prototypes, it not likely legitimate. PM Sent. Thanks for the info.
