This sword is truly a knock-out piece and a grail package - I have seen many Clark blades over the years and this is one of the nicest. I have had people who don't tend to like Clark blades even comment that they really like this blade. Howard himself was particularly proud of this blade and noted it via email once the commission was complete.

You can see more pictures on my Shutterfly site: http://japanesestyleswordsandnihonto.shutterfly.com/pictures/39

(I also have an amazing custom set of 4 seppa, tsuba, and fuchi kashira made by Josiah Boomershine for sale as well. The set was made specifically for this blade, but can easily be customized when mounted for other blades).

  • The polish was done by Josiah Boomershine, who was able to masterfully bring out the true nishi-ji style hada in this L6, which nicely compliments the elegant notare-style hamon.
  • The jigane has a wet-looking finely forged look, bluish cast to the steel and white distinct hamon. These traits are very typical of Howard's work, although once again Josiah was able to bring out the details of the steel in the hada, which is quite rare and unique.
  • The L6 steel makes this blade extremely light weight (like aluminum), but incredibly strong at the same time. The ha is very sharp, which is a known attribute of Howard's blades. Martial artists have long coveted Howard's blades for their cutting ability. This particular blade is beefy and meaty for an L6, so there is heft there. If it were not in L6 it would be quite a bit heavier.
  • As a modern sword, it bears striking similarities to antique nihonto from Hizen and evokes images of their hada that were present in the same blades. Similarly, many Hizen-to were held in very high esteem for their cutting ability.
  • Habaki is custom made in a dark rokusho color by Josiah Boomershine. The habaki is perfectly made and much better than the standard copper habaki that usually comes with L6 blades made by Howard.
  • Shirasaya is custom made with horn inlay by Kuro (Randy Black - a top notch Japanese style sword mounter).

As noted, I would consider doing partial trade + cash for this sword. Some specific examples of trade items (in no particular order):

1. Rick Hinderer knives
2. William Henry knives
3. Japanese swords - nihonto, gendaito, shinsakuto
4. Japanese style swords (such as Clark blades, Rick Barrett, Anthony DiCristofano, etc.)
5. Albion swords

This is not an all-inclusive list so feel free to contact me with your ideas.

Thanks,
Eric

Now $4,700. This price is well below what I paid and well below what you would pay for a similar piece. Remember this has an exceptionally high grade polish, custom habaki, and custom shirasaya making this package one of the best you can get by the top group of craftsman in the market now.

Running a 24 hour sale on this sword - my last attempt to sell this sword. If it doesn't sell at this price, then I give up.

$2,700 USD
Free Expedited Shipping anywhere in CONUS
No PayPal fees if paying via PayPal
No trades at this price; looking for a straight sale

A Howard Clark bare, unpolished blade starts at $2,850 and go from there. This blade of mine was $3,250 unpolished. At this price you are getting the bare blade heavily discounted, the polish, shirasaya, and custom habaki for free. A $5,500+ package for $2,700.

Happy Holidays

(Note: to be fair, I'm posting this pricing anywhere I had previously listed this sale so this is advertised in multiple spots to generate interest).

you might want to create a new thread and close this one down. Threads do not get bumped to the top in this forum so not many new eyes will get to see this deal. Good luck with sale.
