HAHA! Great thread!
There once was a knife called a Mora
Which attracted me as soon as I saw 'er
Well suited to tasks big and small
There was one quality that stood out above all
Her purchase made me only ever so slightly poorer.
Great Poem, can I use it as my signature? I'll credit you for it of course if it is your creation.
For the record gang.
I like Moras, I think they are great blades for the money and excel in slicing and semi light duty work. I just dont feel they are blade you can abuse in a bad situation is all.
A BUsse monster is also not needed (althought a knife on the larger side is my preference), there are other quality blades you can pound on at a good price.
Much of the controversy I cause with this is because people misread my words or even fabricate outright. God forbid someone have a different opinion of their favourite blade.
So Liam where is my % now?
Skam
Now this is the Skammer I can get along with, or at least agree to disagree with. The reason I like my mora so much, is not because I think it is the be all end all knife, but because on my budget(i.e. what my wife will let me buy) I can afford it. I've had a couple of Bucks in the past, and when I got this one, I just fell in love with the it's scandi grind, carbon blade, and cuttability. If I could afford a more expensive, sturdier knife, would I buy it? Of course! But, I figured out that if I get into making my own knives, that I have to buy parts in intervals and in small quantities, so it doesn't seem to my wife like I am spending so much money, than if I just went a bought a $100 knife. So, now I can make a knife to my exact specifications, enjoy a new hobby, possibly make some gifts for friends and family, and most importantly, not piss off my wife by "blowing" our money on knives. (Oh God, I hope she doesn't ever read this:foot: )
So, until I am able to get a knife made for myself, my Mora is my go-to knife, and I trust it to do anything I ask it, but I know it's limitations, so I'm not going to ask a dog to fly.
Put into bushcraft use from 02/2006 and still going strong..
Great handle job! did you do it yourself? Got any specs for us?
