For the Brit's

Very true Jacknife, I think you are right about air weapon's along with Bows,Crossbows, slingshots,Blowguns,Cricket bats,Jolly Hockey sticks and any bit of wood, metal,Plastic or rolled up newspaper over 6" long. All we will have left is our sence of humour,Dunkirk spirit, sharp tounges and stiff upper lips.I better go an sharpen my kitchen knives just in case.
Mind you the way things are going Blair might band all unprepared food from Sainsbury's as well.

Cheers Jacknife. Just a brief one here. My best mate is a PC in Merseyside Police. I took my keys out my pocket once and he picked them up and opened the 3inch folding blade on my Swiss Army ?waiter, I think it was. In all seriousness he told me that I was carrying an illegal weapon. He's also been told (by his superiors I take it) that crossbows and slingshots are illegal.
There is good news though. Him and his fellow officers dont have a clue what a koppo stick or a kubotan is. Also they dont have a clue what a Comtech stinger is, so if you were carrying any of these and got stopped by a copper chances are your going to get away with it.

donn.
The police can sometimes be a little overzealous, but they have a job to do, and most times they do it well. I've never had any problems with them, and I hope that remains the case.

There is a big problem with youths carrying knives in the UK, and most of them aren't carrying them as tools as we do. As with guns, it's the responsible owners that have to pay the price through bans, and ever stricter laws. The criminals just carry on regardless.
That is the annoying part, and I can't see it changing any time soon :(

For me, Victorinox SwissTool for the day-to-day...

Hey C_Claycomb: I like your logo, it says "nothing to do"...

i answered the question on e.d.c in the u.k over on the european site but felt i had to comment here also.i had a coversation with a bloke a few months ago along the same sort of lines,i had used my spyderco delica to cut some fruit in front of him and he asked why i carried a knife,i gave the usuall reply thinking that this guy was going to give me a hard time, but,to my suprise he said he had been a knife carrier most of his life to but that with the advent of multitools he could see no need to carry a single bladed lock knife, any cutting task as well as a multitude of other tasks could be carried out with his l/m wave.
in a way this guy did give me a hard time, how could i legitimise my delica and the multi tool i carry to any one esspecily if the knife is carried in the waste band of my trousers(hidden, concealed).why did i start felling like a criminal for some thing that i had done since child hood.
this is a great country it's just the wankers that get to run it that make decent people want to leave.
i was talking to a lad in the pub one night and the subject turned to knives/weapons i meantioned some of the expensive knives on the market,he'd never heard of them but he did pull out a flick knife to show me around 8-9 inches long, satuday night in a packed pub:( .
things are only going to get worse.great thread by the way
cheers
