for the CT hikers...

I am trying to find a really good trail book...one of those books that gives you trails around the state and info about them.

It seems like I have seen quite a few, but I would like to ask those in the know which brands are the best for the good ole state of CT.

Specifically (and I assume pretty typically) I want to have a good basic map, highlights, tips on the terrain, typicaly weather to expect per season, maybe designated campsites and water sites when applicable. (too much to ask?)

You need go no further than the Connecticut Walk Book. It has everything you describe and more; like skill level, whether it's good for kids, pets, etc. A great resource.

Yep.

There are actually two books now. One for the eastern part of the state and one for the western part of the state. Worth the money. They list all blue blaze trails in the state and other trails as well.

Second best is probably 50 hikes in CT.

I'm not familiar with the Connecticut Walk Book, so I can't comment on it, BUT if you are looking for state park and forest maps, the DEP has many of them available on the website for download/printing. They show trails, ammenities, boundry markers, etc... Some of them are missing stuff, and can be vague on area details (ie missing major area roads outside the park/forest) but those can be a good, *free* tool as well.
